About Our Products
Our Honey
Our honey comes exclusively from our own bees all living in apiaries within a few miles of our base in north Cornwall. We are fortunate to be in an area with very little arable farming, so our bees mainly forage in meadows and hedgerows, producing different honeys throughout the spring, summer and autumn. The honey is coarse filtered in order to keep all of the pollen and other goodness naturally present, so it's as good as if you tried it straight from the hive. For the same reason we don't pasteurise or heat treat our honey.
This can mean that over time our honey can start to crystallise. This is completely natural and doesn't affect the flavour or goodness of the honey, but if you you want it clear and runny again it can be gently warmed to 45 degrees C (use an accurate thermometer) and it will clear.
Our Candles
Our candles are all 100% beeswax and handmade in our workshop. The wax is taken from the bees only when it needs to be replaced, it's then filtered to remove impurities, but still retains variations in colour. This can be seen in the candles and is evidence of the bees doing their thing in the hive.
Our Fabric Products
All of our fabric products are lovingly handmade here in Cornwall by Kat. They are a perfect accompaniment to some lovely honey, as a gift or just for yourself.
Our Packaging
We never buy plastic packaging. If you receive a delivery from us with plastic packaging inside, it's packaging that we've received in a parcel delivered to us which we're reusing. Once that plastic exists the best thing we can do is to keep using it for as long as possible, so that's what we do. Please think about whether you can keep reusing any of the packaging you receive from us, whether plastic or not. Thanks!
