Welcome

Welcome to our new website.  Here you'll find lots of information about Pepperpot Honey, what we do, how we do it and why.  You can also buy our honey and other lovely bee-related products, as well as finding the fine shops that sell our products

If you're thinking about becoming a beekeeper, or have recently started keeping bees, we offer informative, practical and fun courses to help you on your way.

This year we've started a blog that will follow what we're up to in the apiary and what we're learning, along with some equipment reviews.  We've also added some links to sites that we've found useful on our beekeeping journey.

We hope you enjoy having a look around, we'd love to hear from you, so please get in touch if you have any questions.

About Us

Phil and Kat owners beekeepers

We are Phil & Kat Pepper and we keep bees in north Cornwall near Bude.

Kat is our creative and social media expert, who also runs her own crafting business Auntie Tat's Creative Cottage making beautiful fabric gifts.

Phil is the practical one and head beekeeper.

We started Pepperpot Honey in 2020 to sell our beautiful honey made from the abundance of wild flowers in the fields and hedgerows around our apiaries.  We love beekeeping and the pleasure of sharing it with others, which led to beginning our beekeeping courses.  Kat's love of crafting has created lots of lovely gifts including honey, beeswax candles and other goodies.

Our Bees

Our bees are all from local stock and ideally adapted to local conditions.  We are trying to get as close as possible to a native black British bee as we can, without getting too hung up on it.  That's why we say locally adapted and near-native.  Our bees will fly in drizzle and wind that would keep an imported bee indoors, and are much more frugal with their stores.  Most of the problems the bees face are due to imported bees, so we advocate only buying British bred bees and queens, and where possible sourced locally to you.  We also don't treat our bees with any chemicals as we don't think it's good for the bees or the honey.

Beekeeping Courses

One Day Beginners' Course

We offer a one day beginners' course to introduce you to the basics of beekeeping ready for your first hive.  We'll give you some theory on bees and how they live, and look at the pros and cons of some common hive choices.  After that we'll discuss the beekeeping year, and we'll visit one of our hives and meet the bees.  You can be as hands on as you feel confident!

We'll provide a lovely lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Courses are for a maximum of 6 people to make sure everyone gets the full experience
